BioNews announced it has been named a finalist in the 2021 Medical Marketing & Media Awards (MM&M) in the category of Best Healthcare Consumer Media Brand with its entry entitled “BioNews Adopts Insider Approach to Content Development to Help People with Rare.” More than 90 health media and advertising judges narrowed down the hundreds of entries to a select top few based on a series of rigorous criteria.

The Best Healthcare Consumer Media Brand category is aimed at recognizing consumer health websites that publish health information and resources. BioNews’ submission focuses on delivering science and data-based information for people living with a rare disease and their caregivers.

BioNews not only writes about disease and treatment, more than 75% of its employees are affected by a rare disease. This representation enables BioNews to produce content that is honest, realistic, accessible, and relatable in a way that’s unparalleled across the health media universe.

“Our mission is to be not just a trusted source of information, but a passionate advocate for the people diagnosed and caregivers who engage with our content,” said Chris Comish , CEO of BioNews. “Our goal is not just to be a trusted source of information but a passionate advocate for people diagnosed and caregivers.”

BioNews currently owns and operates more than 65 rare disease sites, creating and publishing content for people with rare conditions and experiences such as spinal muscular atrophy and ultra-rare conditions like Pompe disease. The company also owns broader-audience sites like Multiple Sclerosis News Today, which, when launched, met the clinical criteria for a rare disease, but prevalence has since quadrupled.

“BioNews has been our industry’s best kept secret within the rare disease media space,” Comish said. “It’s an honor to be a finalist and recognized for the hard work many people living with a rare disease have contributed to BioNews and our brands’ success.”
